  2. The help-article about basic-auth misses a note about firewall-exceptions for the use of apt-get, which uses FTP to fetch packages.

I has to add TCP 20 & 21 to make apt-get proper work

  3. Required command-line-parameters shouldn't be displayed as optional (with square brackets around):

    f.e. cx restart

    Usage: cx restart [-s <stack>]

you might - in addition to that - also consider implementing a unified syntax for addressing stacks/hosts and omit the "-s"-option in general.

  4. Currently, my invoice just shows one rate combined for all my stacks. A breakdown by stack would be nice so that I can pass the costs on to each client.

  5. I believe it would be possible for cloud66 to have one AWS account with it's own keys (managed by cloud66) and we the customers would have to add a trust relationship in our IAM roles for that account. Then when a new stack is launched cloud66 code would assume the role specified by the user to do it's work instead of using API keys. This is also how future deploys and edits would work.

This is following the AWS best practices. The goal being that we don't need to give out AWS keys.

  6. Steps:
    1. Edit a stack
    2. Modify the cloud provider, db or redis settings.
    3. Push a code change and re-analyze the stack.

    What happens:
My cloud provider, db and redis settings are forgotten.

What I would like to happen:
My cloud provider, db and redis settings to persist while re-analyzing.

  7. Hey guys,

I just thought It would be great to have the ability to add notes before running a backup processes. For example, I have scheduled backup on every day. But when I want to make some changes in project that would affect DB I always make additional backup. It would have been much simpler to understand why that backup was created if I can see a small note on it. Hope you'll find this usefull.

    Thanks

  9. It would be helpful to be able to set redhttpto_https from the manifest file so a new stack could load with that setting.

  10. I would be awesome to be able to set you're own rewrite regex in the manifest file. Especially in conjunction with setting redhttpto_https to true.

That would enable you to use something like ^((?!assets).)*$ to redirect everything except assets. It would make it a lot easier to have everything preconfigured for cloudfront.

  11. Create a file called /etc/gemrc with this in it:

    gem: --no-document

this will skip the useless gem docs and speed up gem installation time by 300%.

  12. If there is no heartbeat on a server, it would be nice if it tried to reboot it (using the cloud provider's API). Suggested by Jevin Maltais.

  13. An incorrectly formatted SSL cert, really easy to do, seems to stop ngnix from loading. Which causes a non-obvious failure. Validating the SSL cert when added would help prevent this.

  14. I feel lost when I access my dashboard at cloud66, is that because cloud66 is targeting experienced web masters?

  15. Add ability to select a stack so that every server ip associated with the stack obtains a firewall rule. This would automatically get applied to new scaled up servers.

  16. Some team members need to have shell access to my servers (especially for tunneling to MySQL with Sequel Pro), but not root/sudo access. When adding team members with shell access, could you add a checkbox to deny wheel group/sudo?

  18. A way for the owner to permit full access to the administrator, including specifying the cloud keys. This is very useful for clients who own their cloud66 account, but are not technical.

  19. The protip to keep your data safe is nice enough, but when my database is external the protip doesn't make sense. My DB is in fact backed up, as it's managed externally.

I know I can ignore it, but it'll keep popping up and for an external DB this protip does not make sense.
