Add basic Postfix install through Manifest file
I will mention Sendgrid but it's same for other services like Mailgun, Amazon SES etc.
Setting up Sendgrid SMTP for use with ActionMailer is easy and works fine when the background workers are added to the mix. However it doesn't scale well in the long run. The best practice is to use e.g. Postfix mail transfer agent (MTA) and relay to Sendgrid. Rails can then simply use sendmail and all SMTP queueing and heavy-lifting is done by Postfix.
Here's the excerpt from the Sendgrid integration docs:
"A local mail server, such as Postfix, is the most robust way to send…

Implement lower-tier offering
I love the simplicity of deploying apps with your service. Just a little bit of config, and then I don't need to worry about anything.
Once it's deployed, however, you begin offering some services that I don't need... and often have trouble justifying paying for. I don't need automatic scaling, monitoring, or backups.
It would be great if you considered offering a lower-tier service at a reduced cost that just deployed apps and let us manage them ourselves. A dashboard of all my apps would be enough for me to manage my low-traffic sites on my own, and it might…

Support Vultr as a hosting provider
I have just started using Vultr.com and seeing pretty impressive performance improvements over Digital Ocean. Looks like its got a very similar API so would be great to have this as a supported cloud hosting provider.

Restore the option to backup databases to S3
We used to be able to use unmanaged backups to backup our databases to S3. That option is now gone and all our unmanaged backups get backed up to /var/cloud66/backups on the local server where the database resides. That's like backing up my computer and then putting that backed up data on the same computer that I was trying to back up.... hm... what?
It seems like you are giving us two choices: managed and unmanaged, but in reality there's only one choice because the other one doesn't even make sense. I strongly urge you guys to bring the old…

Add support for solr search
Solr Search is a reference search engine based of the apache lucene project and one of the oldest supported search engines for rails. Adding support for it would be really awesome, as it needs to be updated whenever a model is updated and when searches are done. By having it within the cloud66 solution we would have lower latency updates.

Import a database via a webhook call or another automated way
We want to (manually) test our latest code against a fresh copy of the data to see whether all functionality works and the migrations are run correctly (as per point 3 in http://community.cloud66.com/articles/using-production-data-on-your-staging-stack).
So being able to post a(n additional) webhook call before we post the actual deployment hook, or via a command in the configuration files would be great.
