  3. At the moment you use (at least on digital ocean) key names like c66-uselesslonghashprobablybasedonthestackid, it would be much more useful having c66-nameoftheserver. That would make much easier to see which keys are from old servers and that can be safely deleted

  4. For example, on Digital Ocean, New York 1 is full. If you try and deploy here, then C66 will try and fail. If there was something in the API between C66 and DO to let C66 know the current available deployment status, then the full locations could be greyed out and not selectable.

If I try to deploy a server directly on DO, it tells me it is unavailable. So the information is in their system. They just need to send it to C66.

  5. Please support stacks with mongodb which is not driven by mongoid(like when using the mongo-ruby-driver) - and enable backups for the entire mongo server - not for specific dbs in the server.

  6. One of the annoying things about cloud66 is that you have to wait upwards of 30 minutes just to spin up a new web server because it has to reconfigure and build all of the dependencies. Why not save an image of the current web server at the provider and start the build with it? This would save a ton of time in scaling up new servers.

  7. Allow for a stack's configuration to be saved into a template and for stacks to be created from those templates.

One potential use is turning up and tearing down staging environments. Bonus points for also allow a hook into your cap deploy:setup process to bootstrap additional environment-specific data (such as sample data).

It'd also be nice to be able to edit the env variables from the template before kicking off the new build.

This could also be used to implement a 'clone stack' function by optionally combining create template + create stack from template.

I know this is mentioned elsewhere,…

  11. I used to increase this using my own environment variable, but then I would end up running out of memory on deploys.

"Every rails app should have a higher malloc limit. The default is too small, this tiny default means that many Rails apps in the wild are getting zero benefit from the faster "lazy sweep" algorithm implemented in Ruby 1.9.3. Further more, low malloc limits mean that the GC runs way too often. Typical Rails requests will regularly allocate a couple of megs of RAM."

  15. I don't want you to handle my web servers, but for instance to work like a hosted DB for redis and mysql on DigitalOcean. They don't offer that and you'll provide me with good configs and constant improvements. I can also have backups handled by you automagically. I loved you UI and your service in general but I dislike the notion of a stack attached to rails. We have our largest app in rails, but some smaller service components in minimal rack up with DynamoDB. Plus, we would prefer to push with Git heroku style. For minimal extremely fair priced…

  19. Softlayer has an extremely robust network, and they also have a CloudLayer VPS solution. It would be great to implement C66 with Softlayer.
